All analytical instrumentation is usually located centrally in a Quality Control lab. This is always followed due to the complexity of the equipment and since it is impossible to place such high-quality/sensitive analytical instrumentation in remote locations owing to transportation and environmental issues.

This drawback has led to the need to collect samples in the field or plant and transport them to the main laboratory, where they must wait until the analysis is performed. The results are analyzed after the completion of the analysis, and decisions can be made with respect to the process that is studied.
There could be a delay ranging from several hours to several days, as predicted. For some samples, this delay can alter their condition or formulation, which renders the analysis not representative of what takes place in the field in real-time.
Pi Portable: The Transportable Analytical Solution
Vision Analytical’s Pi Portable system is a fully featured particle size and shape analyzer that comes with a robust case. It has been engineered as a suitcase-style system with wheels, which allows the high-resolution particle analyzer to be easily taken anywhere. The portable system enables at-site analysis with remote capabilities.

The system makes use of Dynamic Image Analysis as a direct measurement technique, which is increasingly being employed as a Quality Control tool for raw materials in different industries.
The Pi Portable has been designed to work as a fully functioning Particle Size and Shape Analyzer. It can be used in the lab, where high-quality data and user-friendliness are the prerequisites, or closed and taken away for remote use.
