The Rheology and Materials Processing Centre (RMPC) of RMIT University is organising an international symposium on "Recent Developments and Applications in Polymer Nanostructured-Materials" in Melbourne, Australia. The symposium will run from June 1-3, 2009 in Melbourne, and will be attended by leading researchers from Australia, US, Canada, Japan, South Korea, India and Europe.
The stated objective of this Symposium is to bring together leading researchers in nano-materials including nano and bio composites and to discuss recent developments in preparation, processing and ultimate properties characterisation of these materials, their current applications and future market potentials.
A highlight will be the keynote presentation by Prof Sati Bhattacharya or RMIT University which will focus on the development of a revolutionary nanopigment. The nanopigment, with exceptional properties in duration of its fluorescence and which does not leach in commercial products, has been developed by RMIT , NanoVic and a local colouring company over the last four years. The intellectual property has been protected under a patent. The product is currently being commercialised by NanoVentures Australia, and the partners expect to announce a major partnership before or during the Symposium. For information about the nanopigment project, contact Dr Ravi Krishnamurthy at [email protected].
