Dr. Michael Kaschke, Member of the Carl Zeiss AG Executive Board and President and CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, has been appointed an Honorary Professor in the Faculty for Electrotechnology and Information Technology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. This was announced by the university on October 28. Kaschke has been associated with the school for many years. He has regularly taught courses on optical medical technology since 2006 and holds lectures and seminars on the management of innovation and business development processes.
Furthermore, Kaschke is a member of the Advisory Board at the Karlsruhe School of Optics & Photonics and at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. He played a considerable role in the founding of Nanoscribe GmbH in 2008, a spin-off of the Faculty for Physics at the university. Prof. Dr. Uli Lemmer, Director of the Karlsruhe School of Optics & Photonics, stated: “We are very proud that Mr. Kaschke has shown so much commitment to teaching at our university. As a proven scientist and manager in a high-tech company, he possesses more than 15 years of experience in medical technology and has in-depth know-how in innovation and corporate management.” Courses offered by top executives from industry have increased the attractiveness of the university. “Practical offerings from prominent industry representatives are very popular among students,” verified Prof. Lemmer.
Carl Zeiss has long pushed for the close cooperation between science and industry. Dr. Michael Kaschke sees this as an obligation. “It is important for me to support the link between science and industry any way that I can. I am proud of my dedication to teaching at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology,” he stated.
