Plants Grow Faster with Micro-Nano Bubble Oxygenated Water

BluePlanet Environmental (FWK, Stock Symbol-9BP), based in Richmond Hill, is pleased to announce the results of its hydroponics plant growth and harvest study.

The study was carried out by Bureau Veritas, an independent, globally recognized testing facility, comparing the growth rate of Arugula (Eruca sativa) using standard water as the control group vs. BluePlanet’s micro-nano bubble oxygenated water for the experimental group.

Both the Arugula control and experimental groups were subjected to identical germination, light, and nutrient schedules. After a germination period of 6 days the resulting growth rate of BluePlanet’s oxygenated plants was noticeably faster with broader leaves compared to the plants receiving standard water. At harvest, 21 days after germination (average harvest cycles for Arugula are from 20-45 days), the leaf mass of the plants receiving oxygenated water averaged 34.1% greater mass than plants grown with standard water (5.5 g vs 4.1 g). This result was achieved with only a difference of 6.3% in overall length between the BluePlanet oxygenated plants and the control plants (15.2 cm vs. 14.3 cm).

The root mass of the BluePlanet oxygenated plants were finer and fuller while the roots for the control plants were thinner and longer (40.0 cm vs. 25.4 cm). The complex root system found in plants grown with BluePlanet oxygenated water enabled the plants to absorb nutrients more efficiently resulting in healthier and better tasting produce.

Growers can obtain yields with more than 30% more mass, with only a 6.3% increase in plant length. This combination of plant mass and length will allow hydroponics growers to use their standard packaging. Greater mass per container coupled with faster grow times has profound financial implications for grower profitability and sustainability.

Consumers gain by the increased availability of healthy and better tasting produce which is pesticide free and grown under environmentally controlled conditions.

To feed the worlds increasing population hydroponic farming will become increasingly important. Hydroponics can yield 12 to 15 times more produce per acre then open field farming, while reducing water usage, waste, and pollution. Hydroponics is sustainability; these methods can recycle 90% of the water and limit evaporation while open-field irrigation can waste up to 70% of the water used.

Hydroponics farming utilizing BluePlanet patented oxygenation systems can maximize sustainability and profitability while serving local, regional, national, and international markets.

BluePlanet is currently working with a large grower of fruit and vegetables to develop a hydroponic facility based on BluePlanets Technology.
