Boeing, Cisco, Intel, Microsoft and MIT are collaborating with Russia’s Skolkovo Innovation Center, which recently inaugurated its American division in Silicon Valley together with OAO ROSNANO and the Russian Venture Company (RVC).
The Center will represent the three organizations in the US. It will develop high technology collaborations and encourage scientific cooperation in the information technology, biomedicine, energy efficiency, nanotech, nuclear and aerospace sectors between Russian and American businesses, venture capital companies, and educational and scientific institutions. This development takes forward Russia’s endeavors to develop innovation and technology, states Alexei Sitnikov, who is the director of international development at the Skolkovo Foundation. The effort will help the two countries to exchange and share the know-how and experience to develop research-oriented solutions and services for the global market.
The center will take forward the ongoing discussions between Skolkovo and IBM and Google. The company is also working closely with Stanford University, whose professor and Nobel laureate Roger Kornberg is co-chairman of the Skolkovo Academic Board. The launch was made public by Sitnikov at the 8th Annual Global Technology Symposium held in Menlo Park between March 23 and 25, The first day of the conference focused on the theme ‘Russia as a Cradle for Innovation’.
