The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) recently declared that Dr. Jeff Welser testified on the future scope of nanotechnology research and the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI) on behalf of the SIA, the Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) and the Nanoelectronics Research Initiative (NRI) in the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology's Subcommittee on Research and Science Education.
NRI is a consortium that that finances university research programs along with Federal and State government agencies. It concentrates on progress in semiconductor electronics; discovering a nanoelectronic product. This research area is important for employment and the economy.
The cost- effective semiconductor technology is being implemented in computers, smart phones, medical devices and LED lights. The SRC brings to a single platform multiple industries and government funding agencies to award grants to university research programs. NRI acts as a coordinator in these programs and liaises between industry and educational institutions.
Dr. Jeff Welser, director, Nanoelectronics Research Initiative, says his organization is based on SRC's experience in financing such research projects. It puts together government resources, industry funding and university research teams, and encourages and supports research that is necessary to the US economic growth.
