SiTime Launches SiT820X Series of Programmable MEMS-Based Oscillator

SiTime announced the launch of SiT820X series of Programmable MEMS-based Oscillators that can be used in networking, telecom and wireless applications. The two oscillators are the SiT8208 and SiT8209, they operate from 1 to 80MHz and 80 to 220MHz respectively.

The oscillators deliver unmatched jitter performance of 600 Femtoseconds of integrated RMS phase jitter from 12 kHz to 20MHz. The oscillators display a stability of 10PPM, which is twice the stability exhibited by the quartz-based oscillators. This stability enhances the reliability of the oscillator over the interference from spurious noise. The SiT820X series oscillators offer a host of programmable features, which facilitate more than 200 part numbers, each one of which can replace the existing quartz or overtone oscillators. The lead time for shipping these oscillators is minimum when compared to that of other oscillators.

Some of the other notable features of the oscillators are most accurate frequency, best EMI reduction and ability to drive multiple loads without the need for additional buffers. Existing quartz, overtone and SAW oscillators can be easily replaced by these oscillators. They are capable of operating at industrial temperatures of -40 to +85°C and commercial temperatures of -20 to +70°C. The voltage ranges, at which they operate, are 1.8V and 2.5 to 3.3V. The production of these oscillators is scheduled for the third quarter of 2011.
