Amnis, a company that produces advanced cell imaging equipment, declared the release of the FlowSight imaging flow cytometer, which is a small and economical 12-channel device that offers exceptional fluorescence sensitivity and is capable of producing images of every single cell.
The FlowSight apparatus can be upgraded in the field or factory with the use of a 96-well AutoSampler, up to four lasers, and a Quantitative Imaging package, which makes it suitable to meet the demands of a wide range of users.
The Amnis’ CEO, David Basiji, stated that the FlowSight is specially designed for both beginners and expert flow cytometrists as it allows researchers to verify each cell visually, supports 12 detection channels, and is economical. Basiji added that the FlowSight is compatible with the company’s ImageStreamX imaging flow cytometer, which is a high-power microscope used for viewing cells in fluid suspension and allows multiple image-based tests even within unusual sub-populations.
The Amnis’ President and COO, William Ortyn, stated that FlowSight built on the ImageStreamX architecture offers extraordinary fluorescence sensitivity, thus performing five or more times better than high-end traditional flow cytometers. Ortyn added that with the introduction of FlowSight, the company is capable of delivering cell imaging to the expanding flow cytometry market.
