InTech, an Open Access publishing company, has launched the Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology (NMNT) Journal under the editorship of Dr. Paola Prete. This journal features the latest developments and innovations in nanoscale science and technology.
Dr. Prete stated that the main objective of NMNT is to publish research material that presents details on nanoscale science and technology, thus elaborating on the applications of nanostructured and nanoscale materials.
The potential of conducting in-depth research on nanotechnology and nanomaterials is extremely promising due to the fact that commercialization of devices including small mobiles, super fast computers or size-reduction of hi-tech instruments will be possible in just the blink of an eye.
The first issue will present the research of world famous solid state and materials chemist, Prof. Dr. C.N.R. Rao. He along with his co-workers concentrates on a new and latest research area called graphene, which is a two-dimensional nanomaterial. He explains that graphene can be used for a wide range of applications due to its interesting properties. Research has been conducted to analyze if graphene can replace silicon chips in computers owing to the high risk of melting of silicon chips with rise in performance. It is being contemplated that a tiny bit of nanomaterial exhibiting immense strength could bear the weight of a 4x4 jeep. This Journal could open up to a new world of innovative technologies using nanomaterials.
