Carbon Composite Technologies (CCT) which is a subsidiary of Augrid Global Holdings will launch a new nano fabric made of fibreglass and carbon to be used to manufacture products from fibre reinforced polymer (FRP).
The new material will combine carbon nano fibres known for their strength and lightness and fibre glass which is inexpensive. The cost of the patented fabric is similar to fibre glass. However, it displays qualities that are superior to carbon fibre fabrics and is compliant with the country’s standards on durability, resistance to corrosion and strength. Additionally, the fabric can be subjected to resistive heating in order to save time and energy on moulding production.
CCT expects to sell around 10 million LY of the material. In order to meet this expectation, the company would require 2000 multi wall carbon nano tubes and the adequate machinery, equipment and facilities. The company expects to make revenues from license fees with minimum royalty, from agreements to supply material and equipment and paid technology transfer. With several leading companies in the areas of automotive, armouring, wind, energy, marine and aerospace, evaluating the cost saving and effectiveness of the material, Augrid Global Holding expects its annual revenue in material, license fees and sales of equipment to rise to $25 million by 2013.
