Drs Kevin Mattison, Ulf Nobbmann and Jean-Luc Brousseau of Malvern Panalytical will lead a workshop on 'Light Scattering - Theory, Do's & Don'ts, and Data Interpretation' at the 8th Annual PEGS - Protein & Antibody Engineering Summit, which takes place in Boston MA, from April 30 - May 4, 2012.
As a corporate sponsor, Malvern Panalytical will also be exhibiting, and Chief Technology Officer Dr E Neil Lewis will contribute to the Analytical Stream of the conference program. On Monday April 30th, as part of 'Analytical characterization of biopharmaceuticals', Dr Lewis will moderate a problem-solving break-out session covering the 'Assessment of 'High Order Structure' of Protein Therapeutics'. On Wednesday May 2nd he will make a presentation entitled 'Combining Raman Spectroscopy and DLS for the Physico-Chemical Characterization of Protein Therapeutics'.
Billed as a 'Dinner Short Course' on Tuesday, May 1st at 6:00 - 9:00 PM, the light scattering workshop will cover the basic theory behind static, dynamic, and electrophoretic light scattering, with a focus on the do's & don'ts when it comes to data interpretation. Key discussion points will include the determination of mass distribution and accuracy of dynamic light scattering (DLS), the use of light scattering for particle counting, conversion of zeta potential to surface charge, and a comparison of light scattering to other techniques such as SEC & AUC.
