Nearly a decade ago, Tronics recognized the market potential of China for MEMS.
Since then, the company has invested in the Chinese MEMS market, which has grown rapidly and has devised several MEMS devices such as gyrometers.
Tronics now reaps the benefits of its investment and hard work. The company is now working on several potential gyro projects or products for various Chinese clients. In order to reinforce its commercial activities in China and provide better services to customers, Tronics and its distribution partner based in Beijing established a joint venture entity named CHINATRONICS in 2011.
Tronics predicts that 15% of its total revenue will be generated from China. The company’s success in the Chinese MEMS market is a result of its capability to handle MEMS projects from design to production, its ability of doing business the Chinese way, its technological expertise in gyrometers, and commitment of its local partner.
It is evident that the Chinese MEMS customers will show interest in local sourcing, which will eventually lead to the development of local providers. However, Tronics still senses the presence of a sizeable opportunity to be grabbed in the Chinese MEMS market. Therefore, the company will keep on developing and promoting MEMS foundry and MEMS design services, in and for China.
The President of Tronics’ local Chinese partner stated that with flexibility and competency, Tronics will play an important role in the rapidly growing Chinese MEMS market. Tronics’ Chief Executive Officer, Peter Pfluger commented that China will continue to make significant contribution to the company’s growth in the future.
