The organizers of Pittcon 2013 have announced their annual Call for Topics for Conferee Networking Sessions for next years event which will take place from March 17-21, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. All submission must be received by August 1, 2012.
Anyone wishing to submit a topic for a conference networking session can do so electronically through the Conferee Networking section of the Pittcon website. All submissions will be reviewed by The Pittcon Conference Networking Committee with final selections in early September. A finalized list of session topics will be available on the conference website in October.
The conference networking sessions provide am informal venue for small groups (15-25) to meet and discuss topics of mutual interest or solve problems specific to certain instrumentation or procedures. Registered conference attendees can attend the Conference Networking Sessions for free.
Pittcon 2013 will host 28 different facilitated sessions during Conference week; 4 on Sunday, and 8 each day, Monday through Wednesday. The organizers welcome submissions on any topic that relates to:
- Chemicals
- Analytical chemistry
- Analytical instrumentation
- Laws and regulations, and
- Environmental issues
There is a special interest in any topics relating to energy and shale gas.
When asked about the value of these sessions, Conferee Networking committee member Fu-Tyan Lin commented, "These [sessions] serve as a unique opportunity for Pittcon conferees to network with colleagues from around the world
Co-chair Fu-Mei Lin added, "Many times we have seen the discussions continue long after the conference has ended, and these newly formed relationships become valuable scientific resources for participants.
