NeuroInDx Releases UnipicK Universal Cell Collection and Tissue Microdissection System

NeuroInDx, Inc. is proud to announce the release of the highly anticipated UnipicKTM, a universal cell collection and tissue microdissection system.

The new system is based on the company's established KuiqpicKTM line of instruments and fits most commercially available inverted microscopes. It features a significantly enhanced calibration process permitting straightforward cell collection from multiwell plates, new user friendly design, and updated components. The cost efficient, versatile and robust UnipicKTM is a unique cell and tissue acquisition system that provides functional flexibility for a wide range of research and commercial uses from collection of single live cells to tissue microdissection.

UnipicK is priced at about one-fifth the cost of existing laser based microdissection systems. Similar to the recently commercialized KuiqpicKTM, the new instrument has the capability to collect individual live cells from any cell cultures for downstream clonal expansion. However, unlike KuiqpicKTM that comes integrated with an inverted microscope, UnipicKTM features a universal straddle that permits its use with nearly all models of inverted microscope, providing additional flexibility. Investigators can therefore use microscopes which already exist in the laboratory, saving precious research funds.

“UnipicKTM is the most versatile, user-friendly and cost-efficient cell collection system on the market. Its capabilities, together with its affordable price, for the first time allow routine single cell and cell specific research for most research laboratories that do not have access to expensive and sophisticated equipment,” said Stan Karsten, PhD, NeuroInDx President and CEO. “With the introduction of UnipicKTM, more labs can do the research that was usually associated with very high costs.”

The original idea of a low cost cell and tissue acquisition system was conceived and patented at UCLA, and further developed by NeuroInDx. UnipicKTM can be used as an add-on to nearly any inverted microscope for collecting single or multiple cells from culture dishes and slides, as well as for microdissecting subanatomical regions from tissue sections.

"With the new universal version of a cell and tissue acquisition system, we are confident in providing the rapidly growing market for single cell analysis and cell specific research with the most cost efficient and versatile cell and tissue aquisitionsystem,” noted Dr. Lili C. Kudo, Chief Scientific Officer of NeuroInDx. Dr. Kudo also noted that, “various applications of KuiqpicKTM based products, including UnipicKTM, will be backed by NeuroInDx’s enhanced customer support to assist in the advancement of single cell analysis and tissue specific research everywhere".
