Oxford Instruments is ‘Bringing the Nanoworld Together’ in India for the Fourth Time

The fourth in the series of nanotechnology seminars is being held by Oxford Instruments at IIT Madras, Chennai, on 3rd and 4th November 2015, showcasing cutting edge nanotechnology tools and their use in multiple fields.

The two day seminar will comprise over 24 talks from Indian and international expert speakers as well as Oxford Instruments scientists, and will also include technical poster sessions. The event will provide excellent networking opportunities.

We are pleased to announce keynote speaker Professor Dr Rudolf Gross from Walther-Meissner-Institute, Technical University of Munich. Prof. Gross conducts research in low temperature solid state physics. The major focus of his research is innovative superconducting and magnetic materials and nanosystems, the application of solid nanostructures in quantum information processing, spin electronics, and modern manufacturing methods for oxidised heterostructures. Prof. Gross is a board member of the Excellence Cluster Nanosystems Initiative Munich (NIM) and is a spokesman for the Collaborative Research Center on Solid State Quantum Information Processing.

The first day comprises plenary talks with the theme ‘Convergence of the Nanosciences’ followed by a choice of parallel sessions on day two.

Day Two, Session A: Thin Film Processing and NanoAnalysis sessions
Fabrication of wide band gap semiconductors and latest advances in sensor fabrication, followed by sessions on NanoAnalysis’ technology and applications.

Day Two, Session B: Materials Characterisation, Surface Science and Cryogenic Environments
Topics including cryofree low temperature solutions, atomic force microscopy (AFM), nanomechanics and in-situ heating. Andor Technology will also showcase high performance optical cameras and software used in the physical and bio sciences.

One of the hosts from the 2014 seminar, Prof. Milan Sanyal from SINP Kolkata, commented, “BTNT 2014 was an excellently organised seminar at Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, where active researchers from across India presented their work. It was very interesting to note the large number of researchers around the country who utilise state of the art facilities, many of them developed by Oxford Instruments.”
