Three key questions should be considered when selecting a liposome extrusion option. This article answers those questions in relation to Genizer’s range of tools.

What pore size is required?
The choice of homogenizer will likely be dictated by the desired pore size. For example, a solo homogenizer can achieve a liposome size of 20–30 nm, but any tool with extrusion capabilities allows for a greater choice of pore size.

What types of power are available?
The choice of homogenizer will also depend on the types of power available. For example, jacketed liposome extruders allow gas power to be used, while an electric option is also available if a high-pressure homogenizer with or without an extruder is ideal.
Genizer also offers manual options, including the HandExtruder and HandGenizer.

What scale of sample is being processed?
It is also important to consider the scale of the sample or samples being processed. Genizer offers extrusion options from 1 mL to manufacturing scale, with a wide range of size options available.
