Why is 316L Stainless Steel Important for Production?

Stainless steel is composed of iron and chromium that react to form an oxide layer, increasing resistance to corrosion and heat and preventing pitting in the metal.

A smooth, pit-free surface is essential for sanitary applications because bacteria can grow on a bumpy surface and smoothness makes sanitizing easier.

Stainless steel is often associated with commercial kitchens or surgical centers because it is easier to clean than other materials.

316 Grade

304 is a regularly used grade of stainless steel, but it is less resistant to chlorides and acids than 316. This is because 316-grade stainless steel contains molybdenum.

The "L" in 316 L denotes that this stainless steel has a lower carbon content (0.03%) than standard 316 stainless steel (0.08%). This makes it more resistant to corrosion and extreme heat.
