Sarnoff Corporation announced today that it has won the Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) Team Award for Microcircuit Emulation. Microcircuit emulation is critical to the US military because it supplies replacement parts for warfighting systems that are increasingly difficult to maintain.
The Microcircuit Emulation Team won the award for exceptional DMSMS management resulting in significantly improved military readiness levels, substantial cost savings, exceptional warfighter support, and the creation of a DMSMS “best practice”. The team works to furnish the military with otherwise non-procurable microcircuits that are that are manufactured in Sarnoff’s certified trusted foundry and fabrication line in Princeton, NJ.
“We’re proud to accept this award on behalf of the hard working men and woman of the US military who deserve nothing less than the most reliable tools,” said Mark Clifton, Sarnoff’s Acting President and Chief Executive Officer. “Through the Generalized Emulation of Microcircuits (GEM) program, the Microcircuit Emulation Team has provided warfighters with more than 100,000 military-quality microcircuits and the assurance that critical military systems will continue to operate well into the future.”
Sarnoff’s GEM technology emulates microcircuits from a broad range of technology families while meeting the physical, electrical, quality, and environmental specifications of the original devices without requiring changes to system documentation. Once a device has been emulated, a continuing source for the microcircuit is established and available to warfighters. Using GEM devices prevents production shutdown of key technologies and systems while maintaining system integrity and substantially reducing operation and sustainment costs.
