Renesas Electronics has made an agreement with TELEFUNKEN Semiconductors to sell its Roseville-based semiconductor wafer production factory to TELEFUNKEN for 53 million U.S. dollars.
TELEFUNKEN received help from Somerset Capital Group to mediate the transaction. ATREG guided Renesas Electronics in the transaction.
On July 29 2010, Renesas Electronics declared the 100-Day Project and the company has been introducing several measures to enhance production competency by supporting bigger wafers, better process nodes and output concentration. As part of these strategies, the company took up the decision of selling Roseville-based semiconductor wafer production plant to TELEFUNKEN Semiconductors. TELEFUNKEN has been looking for a suitable production plant for its business expansion.
TELEFUNKEN will use the Roseville facility’s 200-mm, eight -inch production line to produce its analog/mixed-signal, HV products and solutions for its foundry collaborators. The company will also sign a delivery contract with Renesas Electronics for production services at the Roseville facility. As per this contract, TELEFUNKEN Semiconductors will offer uninterrupted service to current clients of Renesas Electronics and the quality of production and service will be maintained at the factory.
Renesas Electronics remains completely dedicated to handling clients’ needs via its Roseville-based Quality Assurance Center to uphold the customers’ support in the North American and European segments.
