UBM TechInsights declared it has discovered the Samsung 20-nm class fabrication process technology in a commercial application. A 27-nm process technology node was discovered after a die with a K9GBG08U0A marking was examined.
The Samsung 27-nm node has resulted in increased productivity by more than 50% in comparison to previously established 35-nm node belonging to the same Flash family. The high-performance NAND Flash will enable Samsung to establish them in the consumer electronic equipment market. It was released initially in April 2010.
The Samsung NAND Flash will be used in smartphones and tablets. It will also ensure high-quality performance for Samsung’s memory card solutions. The product is the second flash device to be found at the 20-nm class after the 25-nm MLC NAND Flash from IMFT.
UBM TechInsights utilizes its innovative forensic technical analysis methods to study and investigate about the 20-nm class NAND Flash. The company makes use of its expertise in the IP / Technology Lifecycle to study about the 20-nm class NAND Flash.
The Senior Product Manager for Technical Intelligence, Jason Abt, stated that the Korean memory producer has proved its manufacturing and technical abilities with the innovation of Samsung's 30-nm class DDR3 DRAM and 20-nm class NAND Flash. He also added that Samsung has scaled down from 35-nm to 27-nm by implementing advanced methods.
