Novocell Semiconductor, a company dealing with non-volatile memory intellectual property (IP) for the semiconductor industry, declared that its NovoBlox range of non-volatile memory (NVM) at IBM 45 nm SOI process has been successfully taped out for a confidential customer.
The company completed this 45 nm advanced node with a customer who serves a number of markets ranging from heavy industrial to military to consumer electronics. The customer had selected IBM’s foundry for this specific silicon project. It chose Novocell’s IP since the technology is known for providing licensing flexibility as well as complete reliability. The latest offering of NovoBlox range of antifuse OTP at the 45 nm node further reinforces the leadership position of Novocell Semiconductor.
Novocell Semiconductor’s VP Engineering, Walt Novosel stated that the latest product offering at the 45 nm process node demonstrates the company’s long term practice of innovation. Novocell works with clients to provide the patented SmartBit NVM technology at advanced nodes.
Unlike conventional embedded NVM technology, the NovoBlox NVM IP products use the patented monitoring and programming process of the Novocell SmartBit. This ensures that the embedded bit cells are completely programmed, which in turn results in maximum yield and optimum reliability, thus ensuring customers that their information is completely programmed and will remain unaffected for long years to come.
In addition, the SmartBit-based Novocell IP eliminates the intricate fabrication technology changes and instead employs the usual CMOS fabrication processes, without entailing further manufacturing processes. Novocell NVM IP is designed to address all NVM size and challenges that grow increasingly as SoCs shift to 45 nm nodes and beyond.
