Anton Paar is proud to announce the release of Lovis 2001, a state-of-the-art rolling-ball viscometer, designed for laboratories requiring precise viscosity measurements, especially for low-viscosity and shear-sensitive liquids. Based on the Hoeppler falling ball principle, but equipped with an adjustable measurement angle, Lovis 2001 delivers all polymer-specific parameters by default and offers automation and modularity.

Lovis 2001 is equipped with an adjustable measurement angle, ensuring highly accurate dynamic viscosity measurements in the range of 0.2 mPa·s to 10,000 mPa·s using minimal sample volume as low as 100 µL. This unique feature reduces turbulence in low-viscosity samples and enables tailored shear rates for shear-sensitive liquids. Delivering polymer-specific results such as relative viscosity, specific viscosity, reduced viscosity, inherent viscosity, intrinsic viscosity, K-value, and average molar mass, the instrument eliminates the need for external tools, and ensures consistent and reliable results, stored in a secure database for easy comparison and analysis.
Results are delivered within 30 seconds to 3 minutes, making Lovis 2001 a highly efficient solution for laboratories handling valuable or limited samples.
The instrument features an integrated Peltier thermostat for precise temperature control between 5 °C and 100 °C, with an optional setup extending the range to -40 °C. The hermetically sealed capillaries protect operators when handling aggressive or volatile chemicals, including hydrofluoric acid, and allow for sample recovery after measurement. Modular compatibility with other Anton Paar instruments further enhances Lovis 2001’s capabilities, enabling simultaneous measurement of viscosity, density, refractive index, and pH within a single workflow. The system also offers an optional autosampler for automated filling and cleaning, ensuring time-saving and error-free operation.
Lovis 2001 complies with international standards, including US Pharmacopoeia chapter <913>, Ph. Eur. 2.2.49, MEBAK (R-205.10.282), and ASBC (Wort-13B). Combined with Anton Paar’s DMA density meters, Lovis 2001 additionally supports measurements according to Ph. Eur. 2.2.5 and USP <841>, making it suitable for applications in the pharmaceutical, food and beverage, and polymer industries. The instrument ensures full compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 for data integrity and offers seamless data management via Anton Paar’s AP Connect software. For regulated industries, instrument qualification and validation can be completed in just one day using the optional AISQ+ documentation package.
Designed to meet the needs of modern laboratories, Lovis 2001 combines precision, versatility, and automation in one compact system.
