Injections, Depositions and Aspirations of a Single Cell

One of the challenges in single-cell biology is manipulating individual cells locally while monitoring their reactions after the manipulation.

A common approach is to use glass pipettes with micromanipulators. However, this technique lacks force feedback and is unforgiving—any contact with a cell can easily damage both the cell and the manipulator. FluidFM offers a flexible structure with force control, allowing cells to be manipulated without damage, even upon contact.

This webinar provides an overview of current research using FluidFM technology in single-cell injection, extraction, and deposition, all with sub-picoliter accuracy. It highlights the advantages of single-cell manipulation compared to whole-colony experiments.

The speakers discuss applications such as virus deposition, chemical stimulation of cells and tissues, and single-cell injection or extraction for enzyme activity assays and mass spectrometry.
