Nanoluminous Crystals Hold Promise for Development of New Bioimaging Technologies

Researchers at UMass Medical School (UMMS) have successfully developed light-emitting nanocrystals that could help advance non-invasive bioimaging technologies. These nanocrystals would enable utilization of persistent luminescence nanoparticles for bioimaging applications in the clinic, and in research laboratories. This would allow functional and structural biological processes in patients and in living animals to be evaluated.

New Method Can Calculate Nanoparticles in Sunscreen Products

Loads of cosmetics like sunscreen lotions contain titanium dioxide. These nanoparticles are contentious. Experts suspect they may have harmful effects on people and the environment. But it is difficult to prove that the particles are in the lotions. Using a method developed by Fraunhofer researchers, the particles can now be calculated.

Paul Alivisatos Honored with Tsinghua University Press – Springer Nano Research Award
