HyperSolar, University of Iowa Enter Agreement to Accelerate Development of Commercially Viable Renewable Hydrogen

HyperSolar, Inc., the developer of a breakthrough technology to produce renewable hydrogen using sunlight and water, today announced that it has entered into a one year agreement with the University of Iowa to help accelerate the company's research and development efforts to reach its goal of producing commercially viable renewable hydrogen.

MIT Enters Agreement with Tecnológico de Monterrey for Research in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

MIT has established a formal relationship with Tecnológico de Monterrey, one of Latin America’s largest universities, to bring students and faculty from Mexico to Cambridge for fellowships, internships, and research stays in MIT labs and centers. The agreement will initially focus on research at the frontier of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Researchers Study Why Ag-Rh Alloy Nanoparticles Possess Hydrogen Absorbing/Storage Property

A research team consisting of Osami Sakata, the director of the Synchrotron X-ray Station at SPring-8, Research Network and Facility Services Division, NIMS; Professor Hiroshi Kitagawa, Graduate School of Science, Kyoto University; and Professor Michihisa Koyama, Inamori Frontier Research Center, Kyushu University, made the first observation of the electronic structure in silver-rhodium (Ag-Rh) alloy nanoparticles to investigate why the alloy possesses a hydrogen absorbing/storage property like palladium (Pd) does, given that bulk Ag and Rh do not form an alloy, and that neither element alone is a hydrogen absorbing/storage metal.

Clean Energy Startup Eonix, Awarded $250,000 NYSERDA Grant

Furthering Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s entrepreneurial vision for education in New York State, the Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) at SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) today announced that Eonix, a clean energy startup born at SUNY Poly and led by CNSE graduate students, has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

Molecular Structure of Water Observed at Nanoscale Interfacial Region of Gold Electrodes

When a solid material is immersed in a liquid, the liquid immediately next to its surface differs from that of the bulk liquid at the molecular level. This interfacial layer is critical to our understanding of a diverse set of phenomena from biology to materials science. When the solid surface is charged, just like an electrode in a working battery, it can drive further changes in the interfacial liquid. However, elucidating the molecular structure at the solid-liquid interface under these conditions has proven difficult.
