NSF Awards Grant for Project on Plasmon-Enhanced Imaging Using Nano-Patterned Metallic Surfaces

Assistant Professor of Physics Nathan Lindquist has been awarded a $252,393 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for his project, “Super-resolution plasmon-enhanced imaging and spectroscopy with patterned metallic surfaces and dynamic illumination.”

EUREKA Grant to Develop Light Activated Nanoparticles for Imaging Live Brain Tissue

University of Massachusetts Medical School Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology Gang Han, PhD, has received a $1.3 million EUREKA (Exceptional Unconventional Research Enabling Knowledge Acceleration) grant from the National Institute of Mental Health to develop light activated nanoparticles that can be used to image live brain tissue.

Single Nano-Diamond Operates as an Ultrafast Single-Emitter Optical Switch

A recent study led by researchers of the ICFO (Institute of Photonic Sciences) demonstrates that a single nano-diamond can be operated as an ultrafast single-emitter optical switch operating at room temperature. The scientific results of this study have been published in Nature Physics.
