The role of nanotechnology in making computers run cooler and more efficiently is the subject of a free, public talk from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at T-Spoons, corner of Linn and Market streets. Hassan Raza, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering in the UI College of Engineering, will speak.
Raza, who joined the UI faculty in 2009 and received his doctorate from Purdue University in 2007, has research interests that include silicon and carbon nanotube material systems. He plans to include in his talk a discussion of the potential impact of future nanotechnology discoveries on society.
The talk is presented by Café Scientifique of Iowa City, whose discussion sessions are held on the third Thursday of the month from September to May. Café Scientifique of Iowa City is a meeting forum where the public is invited to explore and debate the latest ideas in science, mathematics, medicine and technology.
