NanoSteel to Deliver Presentation on its Super Hard Steel Alloys at ITSC 2010

The NanoSteel® Company, a leader in nanostructured steel alloy surface technologies, announces that a presentation highlighting how hardness and wear resistance of NanoSteel’s Super Hard Steel® alloys for thermal spray coatings can increase service life in elevated temperatures will be delivered at the 2010 International Thermal Spray Conference and Exhibition (ITSC) in Singapore, May 3-5.

Daniel Branagan Ph.D., NanoSteel’s chief technical officer, will present “Novel In-Situ Transformable Coating for Elevated-Temperature Applications” during the Nanomaterial Coatings 2 session at 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5. The presentation will cover how exposure to elevated temperatures in coal-fired or biomass power plant boilers transforms NanoSteel coatings from an amorphous to a full nanocrystalline state. When this occurs, the microhardness of NanoSteel coatings increases dramatically and results in significant improvements in abrasion and erosion resistance.

Branagan will also co-chair the Properties 3 session at 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5.
