SiTime Achieves Leadership Position in MEMS Timing Market

SiTime Corporation, the industry leader in MEMS-based analog semiconductor solutions, today announced that it has 85% share of the MEMS-based timing market, according to a recent report from Yole Développement, a leading MEMS technology consulting firm. The report also forecasted that the MEMS-based timing market will grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 80% from 2010 to 2015.

"Silicon MEMS oscillator technology has been accepted by the timing market as a viable alternative to quartz in many applications. MEMS oscillators are now in high-volume production, with several million units produced per month," said Laurent Robin, lead analyst for MEMS sensors and oscillators at Yole Développement. "SiTime is leading this MEMS timing market with a broad product portfolio of clock generators, oscillators and embedded resonators."

"We are pleased that Yole has reconfirmed SiTime's leadership position in the MEMS timing market," said Piyush Sevalia, vice president of marketing at SiTime. "SiTime's semiconductor products and technology are driving the rapid transition from quartz to MEMS-based timing, by offering significant benefits in performance, size and cost."
