ENN Solar Energy Co., Ltd., one of China's largest developers of solar energy, has won the bid to supply 5.7 m2 tandem junction silicon thin film modules for a utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) power plant.
This project is sponsored by the China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP), which plans to build a 5 MW PV power plant in Inner Mongolia, China. Once completed, it will be the largest thin film PV project in China, and one of the largest in the world using silicon tandem junction technology.
"We are very excited about having the opportunity to participate in this project, and it is an important first step for the collaboration between ENN and CECEP," said Mr. Hongqiu Cai, Chief Executive Officer of ENN Solar Energy.
ENN Solar Energy is the world's leading producer of high performance silicon tandem junction solar modules. It has recently achieved 9.2% stabilized aperture efficiency in its Applied SunFab thin film production line. At this efficiency, each ultra-large 5.7 m2 thin film module produces well over 500W of clean electricity, enabling customers to rapidly build large-scale solar power plants at low total cost.
Customers using both ENN's modules and its innovative integrated power station solutions benefit in multiple ways. The high-efficiency thin film modules generate greater energy harvest or kilowatt hours of electricity under real-world conditions. The integrated mounting structure takes advantage of large panel size to make these modules the best choice for the construction of utility-scale solar farms. In addition, the customizable large area modules are attractive for architectural applications where the panels can be integrated into or replace conventional building materials in parts of the building envelope such as facades.
"ENN has demonstrated invaluable leadership in the drive to optimize the SunFab production line," commented Kirk Hasserjian, Vice President and General Manager of Applied Materials' SunFab division, manufacturers of the SunFab Thin Film Line. "Pairing the 5.7 m2 SunFab modules with the integrated power station solutions enables a significant advantage for their customers who install large-scale projects and require solutions."
