GLOBALFOUNDRIES today announced the lineup of keynote speakers for GTC 2010, the company’s inaugural Global Technology Conference.
At the September 1 event, senior executives from AMD and STMicroelectronics—two of the world’s leading semiconductor product companies—will offer their perspectives on the changing dynamics of chip design and manufacturing as the industry moves to the 32/28nm technology node and beyond.
In a presentation titled “CPU/GPU Industry Dynamics and Technologies,” Chekib Akrout, senior vice president and general manager of the technology group at AMD, will discuss the benefits of integrating high-performance CPU and GPU capabilities on the same piece of silicon to form an accelerated processing unit (APU), combined with leading-edge 32nm Gate First High-k Metal Gate (HKMG) process technology. Akrout is responsible for managing AMD’s advanced R&D, long-term technology roadmap, CPU core developments, process & circuit technology, tools and IP/SoC design methodology.
In a presentation titled “28nm Collaborative R&D and Global Multi-Fab Manufacturing,” Jean-Marc Chery, executive vice president and chief technology officer at STMicroelectronics, will highlight the value of developing and standardizing advanced 28nm chip-making technology to ensure consistent production worldwide for electronics and device manufacturers. Chery’s responsibilities at STMicroelectronics include corporate technology R&D and production at the company’s 300mm wafer fab in Crolles, France.
“We are honored to have such a distinguished lineup of keynote speakers at our inaugural Global Technology Conference,” said Jim Kupec, senior vice president of sales and marketing at GLOBALFOUNDRIES. “Not only are AMD and STMicroelectronics customers of GLOBALFOUNDRIES, but they also are key partners in our continued efforts to drive leading-edge technology innovation. We look forward to hearing the vision and perspective of these two industry leaders.”
GTC 2010 will be held Wednesday, September 1 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in the heart of California’s Silicon Valley. In addition to keynotes from industry leaders, the event will feature presentations from senior members of the GLOBALFOUNDRIES management and technical teams, with a special emphasis on how the company achieves time-to-volume leadership by leveraging global collaboration with customers and partners. GTC 2010 also will include parallel track sessions on a variety of topics and a GLOBALSOLUTIONS pavilion showcasing members of the company’s extensive partner ecosystem offering differentiated solutions in design enablement, mask preparation, assembly and test.
