IMEC, a prominent independent applied research organization has established IMEC in the city of Bangalore in India to enter the Indian market. IMEC India has entered into a partnership with Wipro Technologies which is the Outsourcing and Consulting Wing of Wipro. IMEC conducts research in the field of nanotechnology, semiconductors and nanoelectronics providing industry relevant technology applications.
Imec along with Wipro have entered into a joint initiative to create ground-breaking technologies and build intelligent systems named Applied Research in Intelligent Systems Engineering (ARISE). They are planning to develop NEMS (Nano Electro Mechanical Systems) and Nanoelectronics based solutions with the help of an experienced team consisting of user designer, system designers, process and system and software architects for new and emerging markets such as India.
Initially they would concentrate on the development of intelligent systems based on the next generation energy harvesting and wireless technologies and sensors for key industry verticals. The core team would include teams from IMEC and Wipro and also more people from global talent pools from academia and industry for the creation of a team of well qualified scientists and engineers.
The solutions would utilize the heterogenous semiconductor process integration platform (CMORE) developed by IMEC which would provide prototyping, design and low volume production of systems-on-chip that would merge logic along with optical, chemical and mechanical functions.
This partnership would make use of IMEC’s technology capability along with IT integration expertise of Wipro to create the appropriate solutions for the emerging market.
