Haag-Streit UK has developed a new surgical microscope called MÖLLER ALLEGRA 590. The microscope has several integrated features that enable it to serve the dual-purpose of being applicable for ophthalmic and ENT surgery. It can be used in hospitals, day clinics and surgical centres, especially in small clinics or hospitals with insufficient space.
The apochromatic optics present in ALLEGRA 590 offers high-contrast and fine image to surgeons for a wide range of zoom settings. The wide stereo base measuring 25 mm provides excellent perception of depth.
ALLEGRA 590 can be inclined at angles from -30° up to + 120° and can be tilted to an angle of +/-45°. Due to the possibility of inclinations, the microscope is effectively used to illuminate and analyze narrow canals and deep cavities. Electromagnetic brakes are provided that help to position the microscope firmly for any specific application.
This microscope comprises motorised focus and zoom and X-Y coupling to track horizontal images in ophthalmology and to provide focus in ENT surgery. By just pushing a button, the microscope can be changed from ENT mode to ophthalmic mode. The ALLEGRA 590 generally uses a 200 mm front lens. Even objective lenses with a focal length ranging from 175 to 400 mm can be opted.
ALLEGRA 590 is equipped with a filter disk for blue light, green light, day light, and soft light. It ensures protection from UV rays using a yellow filter. It has two spot diaphragms to avoid glaring.
For vitreoretinal surgery, the microscope can be mounted with a non-contact wide-angle ophthalmoscope called EIBOS. The microscope arm can be mounted with a high-resolution monitor called MÖLLER MEDIS for co-observation. During operation, one can see and control snapshots and videos with a touch screen. The microscope is also incorporated with a 1 CCD video camera.
