Book Discusses Nanomaterial Synthesis by Laser Ablation in Liquids

Research and Markets has included a new book titled ‘Laser Ablation in Liquids: Principles and Applications in the Preparation of Nanomaterials’ to its list of offering.

The book’s author is Guowei Yang, who is a Professor of materials physics and chemistry at Sun Yat-sen University in China. It is useful for graduate and undergraduate students pursuing courses in nanotechnology, and for scientists active in the fields, including medicine, biology, chemistry, physics, nanotechnology and materials science, specifically in nanomaterials.

Basic concepts and chemical and physical characteristics of pulsed laser ablation of solid targets under liquid conditions and its use in the synthesis of nanomaterials and formation of nanostrucutres are discussed in detail in the book. Extensive research on laser ablation in liquids has been carried out in recent years, thanks to its application in laser material micro-processing. Thus, studying chemistry and physics characteristics of laser ablation in liquids and developing novel applications in the synthesis of nanomaterials are the major challenges.

The book discusses in detail about laser ablation in liquids’ fundamental kinetic and thermodynamic processes and its use in the fabrication of semiconductor nanostructures and in the synthesis of metal oxide and metal nanocrystals. It covers preparation techniques, research methods, experimental and theoretical study of laser ablation in liquids. It describes laser ablation in liquids’ use in a variety of nanomaterials synthesis applications such as surface microstructures processing, functional nanostructures fabrication and nanocrystal synthesis.
