mPhase Technologies has announced that it is investigating the use of graphene and other advanced materials for printing its Smart NanoBattery.
Graphene has been recognized as the wonder material of the 21st Century. The nanomaterial is considered as the strongest material in the world, while retaining flexibility. It has also been depicted as the most conductive material in the world. These features make it a suitable replacement for silicon material, paving the way to produce faster, thinner and more-flexible devices such as power sources at a lower cost.
Sir Andre Geim and Sir Konstantin Novoselov won the Nobel Prize in Physics in the fiscal year 2010 for their pioneering experiments pertaining to graphene.
mPhase Technologies is developing a pioneering Smart Surface technology facilitated by advancements in microfluidics, MEMS processing and nanotechnology. Its Smart Surface technology finds use in filtration systems, chemical and liquid sensor systems, self-cleaning systems, lab-on-a-chip analytic systems and drug delivery systems.
The mPhase Smart NanoBattery is the company’s first Smart Surface enabled product. This battery can be used in a broad array of future-generation handheld gaming devices or in advanced PDA or cell phones to a variety of sophisticated consumer, industrial, medical and military technologies.
Besides the Smart Surface technology, mPhase Technologies recently unveiled its first product called the mPower Emergency Illuminator designed by Porsche Design Studio. The company distributes the product through its mPower website.
