Pixelligent Technologies, a company that supplies nanocrystal additives to semiconductor, industrial and electronic manufacturers, has extended its Baltimore facility to be larger than 13,000 sq. ft. and has expanded its workforce by almost 150%.
The company’s growth is the result of rising demand for its proprietary nanocrystal additives, Hafnia and Zirconia and Pixelligent’s ability to augment its production capacity. Pixelligent now has customers across the globe.
The Unites States is the hotbed of nanotechnology innovation with more than $30 billion funding made available for research. The biggest challenge is in commercializing the technological developments that fortify the American economy by job creation and profit generation. Pixelligent is making great strides in this direction. Over the last six months, the company’s customer pipeline has grown tenfold and now has five of the biggest chemical manufacturing multinational companies amongst its customers.
The nanocrystal additives from Pixelligent are being considered for a host of applications ranging from protective coatings, to lighting, to powerful semiconductors, to lubricants and displays.
Pixelligent moved its operations to Baltimore in June 2011. The City of Baltimore provided the company with incentive to move to Baltimore by way of investments of $100,000 and $200,000 from the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED) and the Baltimore Development Corporation (BDC), respectively.
