Micro Surface Corporation License WS2 Nanostructured Coatings to Applied Tungstenite

Micro Surface Corporation is pleased to announce that Applied Tungstenite Corporation of Temecula, California has been granted a license for its WS2 technology for the Southwest including California, Arizona, and Utah.

Applied Tungstenite has built a new facility that incorporates state-of-the-art passivation lines and WS2 processing. Principals Eric and Pete Woods offer over 25 years of experience in aerospace, defense, and medical markets.

"Here at Applied Tungstenite, we're doing everything we can to ensure that our processes are clean and environmentally responsible," says Woods. The challenge has proven to be surprisingly easy because WS2 is non-corrosive and toxicologically inert. The passivation chemicals are non-toxic and biodegradable.

Micro Surface commercialized the WS2 process, which was developed for NASA and used on the Mariner Space Shot and more recently on the Mars rover. WS2 is a proprietary nano structured, modified tungsten disulfide in lamellar form that provides exceptional lubricity and wearlife. WS2 solves a range of difficult application challenges involving: friction, excessive wear, seizing, galling, and fretting.

"Proven solutions that are environmentally responsible are increasingly important to all industries, especially for aerospace and military. WS2 coating technologies have set the stage for sustainable growth for Micro Surface and our licensees" states Ed Fabiszak, Micro Surface president.
