Diamond-Based Nanotechnology Company, Duralar, Establishes New U.S. Headquarters

Duralar Technologies, a global nanotechnology company and developer of the state-of-the-art Duralar™ family of ultra-hard coatings, today announces that it has established its U.S. headquarters in the Tucson region. The company has leased a 5,000 square-foot building at 7620 North Hartman Lane and plans a $6 million capital investment. The new facility will be open by May 2014.

Duralar Technologies was cofounded by P&P Holding and Andrew Tudhope, a Silicon Valley engineer/entrepreneur with a number of successful high-technology ventures to his credit. P&P Holding is also the parent of two other coating companies, Protec Surface Technologies and ProtimLafer, both of Italy. The breadth and depth of this coating experience along with the merging of Silicon Valley and Italian technologies gives Duralar a significant advantage in the marketplace. Duralar coatings incorporate proprietary diamond-based nanotechnology that provides unprecedented hardness for numerous applications in industries such as oil & gas, automotive, pulp & paper and aerospace.

Duralar Technologies' European headquarters are located in Bedizzole, Italy, which is also home to the company's research and development and equipment manufacturing operations. The company has additional facilities and offices in Brazil, Mexico and the U.S.

Duralar's new U.S. headquarters plans to hire 30 new positions over the next year. The jobs at the facility will be a mix of material science, chemical and electrical engineering positions, technicians and management positions.

Andrew Tudhope, president of Duralar North America, said: "We believe the Tucson region is an emerging technology hub. We chose this market for several reasons, including access to technology at The University of Arizona, an attractive cost of living and strong regional support. The process was smooth from start to finish." Through TREO, the company worked with a variety of partners including the Town of Marana, Pima County, Arizona Commerce Authority and CBRE.

"We're thrilled to welcome Duralar Technologies, who joins more than 30 headquarters who call Southern Arizona home," said Joe Snell, TREO president and CEO. "Our technology strengths continue to be an attractive asset for economic development success."
