Technology Partnership with HWV Technologies In Water Treatment Solution for Oil & Gas Industry

Graphene NanoChem, the performance chemicals and advanced materials company, is pleased to announce the execution of a cooperation agreement with HWV Technologies Pte Ltd (“HWV Technologies”) in designing and commercializing the PlatCleanTM V1 System, a fully integrated graphene enhanced water treatment system which offers significant commercial benefits for the oil and gas industry.

The treatment of wastewater is a significant issue for the oil and gas industry due to the volume generated during the oil production process. For each barrel of crude oil produced, an average of 3 – 5 barrels of wastewater is generated which needs to be treated.

Unconventional drilling such as enhanced oil recovery and fracking has also created increased demand and challenges for the use, supply, treatment and safe disposal of water for the sector.

In 2014, the global market for water management services and technologies in the onshore oil and gas industry is estimated to be worth US$37.9 billion and is expected to grow at 6% a year, in line with increasing oil and gas production.

Enhanced by nanomaterials, the PlatCleanTM V1 System is a skid mounted modular water treatment system custom-engineered to meet the space, capacity, environmental constraints and stringent discharge limits of the oil and gas industry. It provides a complete solution for handling segregated and combined waste streams. Apart from using less energy and chemicals, the patent pending graphene-enhanced membrane system, developed using Graphene NanoChem’s material, enables a twofold throughput improvement compared to a conventional system, making it a highly cost efficient water treatment solution for the oil and gas industry, with a smaller footprint than a conventional system.

The PlatCleanTM V1 System represents the next phase of expansion for Graphene NanoChem in offering full-cycle oilfield service solutions and in rolling out new products and services into the oil and gas sector through partnership models.

Jespal Deol, Chief Executive Officer of Graphene NanoChem, commented: “The PlatCleanTM V1 System is unique in that we are integrating a number of technologies to provide a full solution package to our targeted customers. With the support of HWV Technologies as our technical partner and our ongoing business development efforts in the oil and gas sector, we believe that we are well positioned to rapidly rollout this latest product offering into the market.”
