Peratech Holdco Ltd., a Yorkshire-based firm leading the field in next-generation touch-technologies, announces the appointment of Dr. Alec Reader as Vice President of Business Development and Partnerships. Reader joins Peratech from the UK’s Knowledge Transfer Network Ltd. where until recently he was the director and leader of its nanotechnology activities for more than seven years.
Peratech CEO, Jon Stark, commented, “Alec has over thirty years’ experience in the micro and nano-electronics industries with an extensive partner network that we need to both collaborate and accelerate the commercialisation of Peratech’s Quantum Tunneling Composite-based solutions. His decision to join Peratech is a clear validation of our technology, business model, and growth strategy.”
Dr. Reader shared, “I wanted to return to the challenge and excitement of industry after working for a government-sponsored body for a number of years. My work with NanoKTN brought me into contact with all the leading British nanotechnology companies and Peratech stood out as being one of the most exciting enterprises with an amazing technology and a customer-oriented business model.”
Having successfully transformed five academic start-ups into mainstream companies including Innos, Dr. Reader has held senior R&D and business leadership positions at ST-Microelectronics, Philips Research, Philips Semiconductors and Philips Analytical.
Dr. Reader concluded, “I get a real buzz from putting together joint development programmes between companies so that they can collaboratively create novel, winning solutions. Peratech’s pressure sensing QTC technology can be the basis for many new innovative products and I am looking forward to making them into a reality.”
