The Centre of Excellence in Metrology for Micro and Nano Technologies to Launch in May

The Centre of Excellence in Metrology for Micro and Nano Technologies (CEMMNT) celebrates its official launch on Wednesday, 2 May 2007, at the Systems Engineering Innovation Centre (SEIC) in Loughborough. This national event, which aims to bring together over 150 major players in UK Micro and Nano Technology (MNT), will provide a unique networking forum for anyone interested in the benefits of small scale measurement and characterisation.

Keynote presentations will highlight the importance of micro and nano scale measurement and characterisation. Graham Spittle, Chairman of the Government Technology Strategy Board, will provide a national perspective. Case studies and panel discussions will focus on practical applications. Additionally, delegates will be able to book a metrology surgery to individually discuss their measurement and characterisation challenges with CEMMNT partner scientists. The event will also incorporate a session outlining opportunities for industry to apply for European Union Framework Programme 7 collaborative research funding, as well as an exhibition including metrology equipment demonstrations.

CEMMNT’s launch is an anchor event of iFestival (www.innovationem.org.uk), the first East Midlands Regional Innovation Festival, is co-sponsored by NEXUS and emda, and supported by its partners, National Physical Laboratory, QinetiQ, Taylor Hobson, Coventor, and BAE Systems.
