Infrared quantum dot (QD) technology expert Quantum Science has been ranked among the top exporters in the UK at the UMi Northern Powerhouse Export Awards.
Quantum Science, pioneer of the leading INFIQ® infrared QD technology, won the ‘New to Export’ category at the event on Wednesday (June 28) from a shortlist of six businesses.
The category, sponsored by the UK government’s Department for Business and Trade, recognises companies that have been exporting for less than two years, as well as those whose export practices contribute to the global Net Zero agenda.
INFIQ® infrared QD technology is currently exported to 10 markets around the world including Japan, the EU and the US, which are of particular interest for the developing short wave infrared imaging sector.
These export deals are granting the world’s leading semiconductor businesses access to Quantum Science’s state-of-the-art products and technologies, and have helped boost the business’s global customer base.
Dr Hao Pang, CEO and Founder of Quantum Science, said: “Despite the challenges in international trade in recent years, exports have continued to be a vital and developing part of our business. With a presence established in leading international semiconductor markets Quantum Science has experienced outstanding success in exporting already, and our win at the Northern Powerhouse Export Awards demonstrates the even greater potential we have for growth in this area.
“This achievement is a testament to both the hard work of our team and the leading performance of our INFIQ infrared QD technology. With the market for SWIR imaging and sensing set to rapidly expand over the next few years, having high-performance infrared QDs and QD solutions like ours positioned in the leading markets will be critical. Our recent breakthrough of producing lead-free QDs sensitive to 1,550 nm brings this market access even closer.
“I’d like to offer my thanks to the team at the Department for Business and Trade who have assisted us on our exporting journey over the years, as well as my congratulations to all the other winners and highly commended entrants at the Awards. This event showed just how much the North of England can contribute to the UK’s export growth potential, and we’re delighted to operate in such an exciting business landscape.”
