CAP-XX Limited today announced that EDN Magazine has named the CAP-XX H series supercapacitors in the EDN “Hot 100” Products of 2007. Specifically, CAP-XX HS and HW high temperature supercapacitors were chosen in the power sources category for a technology advancement that extends the operating voltage from 4.5V to 5.5V and the operating and storage temperature from 75°C to 85°C.
Compiled by EDN's editors, this annual listing highlights the electronics industry's most significant products, including analog and digital ICs, process technologies, power sources, processor cores, communication controllers, test instruments, embedded boards and EDA tools.
Ultra-thin CAP-XX supercapacitors boost power delivery in mobile devices to drive power-hungry applications, such as LED flash and cell phone audio, while also extending battery life.
Earlier this year, EDN also selected the CAP-XX BriteFlashTM power architecture as a finalist in the EDN Innovation Awards. In camera phones equipped with BriteFlash, a supercapacitor powers a high-brightness LED flash to deliver light energy comparable to that of considerably larger xenon units.
“We are honored EDN chose our supercapacitors for the Hot 100,” said CAP-XX CEO Anthony Kongats. “This achievement recognizes our dedication to developing unique power solutions for mobile devices, which continue to shrink in size but increase in functionality.”
