SIBS and QIAGEN to Develop Molecular Tests for Food Safety Tests

The CAS Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences (SIBS) signed, on 25 September in Shanghai, a collaboration protocol with QIAGEN, a Netherlands holding company and world leading provider of sample and assay technologies, to develop new molecular testing solutions to improve the safety of food products.

The signing ceremony was presided over by Dr CHEN Yan, executive vice director of the CAS Institute of Nutritional Sciences (INS) under SIBS. SIBS President CHEN Xiaoya and CEO of QIAGEN Peer Schatz inked the document on behalf of the two sides.

According to the agreement, food safety experts from the INS will use QIAGEN technologies to develop a wide range of molecular tests for the detection of food-borne pathogens.
