Prosolia Introduces New Advanced Omni Spray Ion Source Model Based on DESI Technology

Prosolia, Inc. introduces a new advanced Omni Spray Ion Source model based on the Desorption Electrospray Ionization (DESI) technology. The Omni Spray 2-D Ion Source has an automated surface platform which enables rapid sampling and surface imaging. The platform can handle samples up to 76 mm by 114 mm, which is the size of a standard 96 well micro-titer plate.

The Omni Spray 2-D Ion Source achieves a step resolution down to 50 microns and has an open access sample stage that fits up to 3 standard Omni Slides(TM) or an Omni Slide - 96. A new feature of the Omni Spray 2-D Ion Source allows for angle adjustment of DESI spray head without changing other geometrical parameters for quick optimization. The 2-D Ion Source is software controlled with an intuitive graphical user interface. The new Omni Spray 2-D Ion Source is easy to install and remove allowing for rapid turnaround when switching to another ion source.

Highlights of the 2-D Source includes the ability to perform surface imaging experiments at atmospheric pressure such as the direct analysis, tissue samples or even thin layer chromatography (TLC) plates. The 2-D Source is also able to analyze 96 sample spots in less than ten minutes.

"The versatility of the 2-D platform allows for scientists to conduct all types of DESI experiments that range from analysis of a single spot, to high throughput in a micro-titer plate, all the way to imaging surfaces, all at ambient conditions," said Justin Wiseman, Director of Research and Development for Prosolia, Inc.
