New Nanotech Center For Oregon - News Item

The University of Oregon has begun planning a new nanotechnology center as part of an effort to make Oregon a major nanotechnology player. The 60,000 square feet building will house nanotechnology researchers and be a high-tech startup business incubator.

The building will be headquarters for the university's portion of the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute, a collaboration between the University of Oregon, Oregon State University, Portland State University and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

State Legislature has allocated $20 million for construction with the university matching state funding with donations and grants to build the proposed center. It is hoped that construction can begin soon after the state money becomes available.
