Janaky holds a Ph.D. in Material Science from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) in Bangalore, where she used Raman spectroscopy to study phase transitions in various novel materials. Her research involved chalcogenides, orthoferrites, vanthoffites, eutectics, and metal-organic frameworks, providing her with extensive experience in proposal writing, manuscript preparation, and scientific review.

During her Ph.D., Janaky collaborated internationally, working at facilities like Elettra Synchrotron in Trieste, Italy. After earning her doctorate, she researched high-pressure effects on metallic nanoclusters at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and served as a visiting scientist at the Carnegie Institution of Science, Washington, D.C., where, in addition to working on hydrogen water systems, she developed an interest in the history and philosophy of science.

Passionate about science communication, Janaky believes in making scientific knowledge accessible to all, participating in outreach programs, and pursuing a career in science journalism and content writing. She has organized events for arts and science clubs and college unions, reflecting her commitment to community engagement.

In addition to her scientific pursuits, Janaky is an artist who creates pastel paintings, writes poetry, and enjoys music. She is an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction and loves visiting museums and beaches on her solo trips.
