In order to determine the properties of a material, detailed knowledge of the structures it contains at the atomic level is required. This information can be obtained using conventional X-ray diffraction (XRD) methods for ordinary materials.
Silicon nanotubes are tube-like nanoparticles which are made of silicon atoms. They are similar to carbon nanotubes and widely used in the semiconductor industry due to their exceptional electromechanical properties.
In 2001, molecular nanowires millions of times tinier than a human hair were developed. Researchers discovered that nudging these tubes with a sharp tube can modify their ability to carry an electric current.
In the recent years, the printing industry has begun experimenting with nanotechnology, from printing inks to the printing process.
