OECD Releases New Report on Manufactured Nanomaterials

OECD Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials (WPMN) released a new report in their series on the safety of manufactured nanomaterials. Based on an OECD workshop held on the topic in Paris Oct 2008, the report's focus is on exposure assessment and mitigation. It was endorsed by the WPMN at its 5th meeting in March 2009 and forms the 13th in the OECD's series on the Safety of Manufactured Nanomaterials.

The document includes a discussion of:

  • Exposure measurement (including Analytical Methodologies and Occupational Measurement Strategies);
  • Determinants of Exposure in the Workplace;
  • Exposure Mitigation Measures; and
  • Risk Assessment in the Workplace

In addition, presentations given by some of the experts attending the workshop are included in the document's annex. Presenting scientists include Thomas Kulbusch, Mariko Ono-Ogasawara, Derk Brouwer, Thomas Schneider, Paul Swuste and Bruno Orthen.
