MICROSCIENCE 2010 Designated EMS Extension by European Microscopy Society

MICROSCIENCE 2010 has been designated an EMS Extension by the European Microscopy Society. This means that it will receive increased support, and it will host the European Society's General Assembly - when up to 60 representatives from the national societies come together.

The event was already set to be Europe's leading international conference and exhibition on microscopy, imaging and analysis, and this news provides yet another significant boost.

"We are really delighted that the EMS Board has taken this decision," says Dr Debbie Stokes, Co-chair of the MICROSCIENCE 2010 Organising Committee. "It is a strong endorsement and we are now looking forward to welcoming them, and to adding to our growing list of international delegates."

The timing of the Board's decision is ideal given that the RMS is hosting the European Microscopy Congress in 2012 - an event that is held every four years under the auspices of the EMS.

"We will be launching our plans for EMC 2012 at MICROSCIENCE 2010, so it is an added bonus that we will have members of the EMS General Assembly, plus additional European delegates present," adds Debbie. "With world-renowned speakers, a huge exhibition, plus an exciting social programme, MICROSCIENCE 2010 is set to be a great event."

The international conference has three parallel themes - on Life, Materials, and New Frontiers - that include a rich mix of high-profile invited and submitted talks. In addition, each day starts with a tone-setting Plenary Lecture, with the first being given by Professor Jennifer Lippincott-Schwartz.

The "huge" exhibition is home to nearly 100 companies and it is set to be the largest in the event's history. It is free to visitors and includes an attractive programme of technical workshops, and the fully-equipped Learning Zone; a turn-up-and-learn facility that is staffed by experts.
